STOCKHOLM — Sisters Maliah and Lana Utley of Hewitt finished one and two at the North Jersey's Figure Skating Club USFSA Basic Skills competition at Skylands Ice World. The sisters, who are the daughters of John and Jennifer Utley, have been skating with Coach Kelly J. Evans for a little more than a year. Maliah took first place while her sister Lana took second in their events. Each skater did a one-minute program to music set by Evans.

Evans is currently teaching at Skylands Ice World. In addition to teaching all levels of figure skating, he also works with hockey players, developing their skating skills to make them better players.

Evans, once a full-time skating instructor, now teaches part time and is the owner of Signs Etc. in Sparta. He is a double USFSA gold medalist in Moves in the Field and Freestyle and is associated with the former Ralph Evans Ice Skating Schools in New Jersey.
