Identical "cousins" at the shelter

On Sept. 18, 1963, ABC launched a new show called The Patty Duke Show. It ran from 1963 to 1966 and captured the teenage experiences of the time featuring identical cousins, Patty and Kathy Lane, both played by Patty Duke. Patty was the typical American teen, chatty, outgoing and rambunctious. Her Scottish cousin Cathy was brainy, sophisticated and reserved.
The West Milford Animal Shelter has its own "identical cousins," two large tiger and white male cats. One is named Arturo, the Italian and Spanish form of Arthur, and the other is named Luscious, whose English meaning is delicious and light. He is delicious but he certainty is not light. Arturo is nicknamed Luscious Lite because he is the smaller of the two. Both are dapper, friendly, warm and doting. They are not related but they have adopted parts of the theme song from The Patty Duke Show as their own personal manta,
"We look alike! We walk alike! At times we even talk alike! You could lose your mind - over us!"
These two "cousins" could live apart or together. They are always happy to see visitors.
The shelter is located on Lycosky Drive, behind the recycling center. For information call 973-728-2859 or go to facebook/the Real Cats at WMASS.
Walk your dog to help othersThe shelter's annual Walk-A-Dog-Athon is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017. For information and a registration form, visit the shelter's website, WestMilfordAnimalShelter.org. This is a great event to help the homeless animals that are cared for at the shelter.
