WEST MILFORD — Bagels with the police - what a great prize! Yes, it was a prize at a recent tricky tray, one that the kindergarten class at Apshawa won't soon forget.
Allison Goodell and Karen McCourt, the kindergarten teachers at Apshawa, had some pretty excited kids when West Milford Police officers showed up one recent morning to share bagels and juice with the students. A couple siblings were able to join in the fun, too.
Each of the kindergartners was named deputy police officer for the day as the officers presented them with stickers. It wasn't just the breakfast either. Officer Jill Brickman read a story to the kids as they finished their bagels. She and her colleagues gave out coloring books and crayons to all of the students.
This was a thrill for the kids. They were happy and enjoyed spending time with the officers.
Maybe this will be a trend, with the fire companies and ambulance squads also donating a visit at another tricky tray,
A big thank you to the West Milford Police Department from a very happy group of kindergarten kids.
