WEST MILFORD — Sometimes, the homeless animals waiting for new homes and families at the West Milford Animal Shelter are lucky and are adopted almost as soon as they are available for adoption. Sometimes, they have to wait a few months and sometimes they have to wait for a year or more.
They are waiting not because they are not cute, loving or friendly but because their right match has not come along. Sometimes this is because they are older or have health issues but sometimes it is just because the right connection has not yet been made.
Recently, five cats finally found their new forever homes and families after a long wait.
Belinda, Link, and Wanda and Cadet (a bonded pair who had to be adopted together) were at the shelter for 2 years and Chatters was at the shelter for 3 1/2 years. All of them are now happily settled in their new homes. And their success stories can be read on the shelter's facebook page, TheRealCatsAtWMASS, proving that their waiting was well worth it.
To help the cats who are still waiting to find homes, the couple who adopted Wanda and Cadet have donated special kitty gift bags that will go home with each cat adopted (while supplies last).
