TRENTON — The state of new Jersey has proclaimed May Eyeglass Recycling Month. Leading the cause is the Lions, a group that has been committed to meeting the demand for quality eyeglasses in developing nations for more than 80 years. In 1994, the Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Program was born.

In the state proclamation it states Lions members volunteer their time and services by collecting used eyeglasses for donation, cleaning, repairing and distributing them to those in need.

The West Milford Lions Club has eyeglass recycling containers at the post offices in West Milford, Hewitt and Newfoundland. Thanks to residents who make use of these containers, the club has recycled hundreds of pairs of eyeglasses in the last year alone.
