Party chairman charged with DWI

    WEST MILFORD — West Milford Republican County Committee Chairman Matthew Conlon was charged with driving while intoxicated in the early morning hours of Dec. 31, 2015.

    According to West Milford Police, Officer Thomas Valente observed a vehicle traveling on Union Valley Road at 2:26 a.m. with an apparent equipment violation involving the brake lights.

    Valente made contact with the driver and engaged him in conversation in regard to the violation. The ensuing investigation resulted in Conlon's arrest for driving while intoxicated.

    Conlon, 23, was transported to West Milford Police Department for processing. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and several other motor vehicle violations. He was released pending an appearance in municipal court.

    Conlon was elected to the Republican County Committee in 2015 and was selected by his fellow committee members as their chairperson.
