WEST MILFORD — Notice those pinwheels in the center of town?
The Woman's Club of West Milford planted them for a good reason. For the next two years, the New Jersey State Federation of Woman's Clubs state project is Prevent Child Abuse NJ. The pinwheel garden is just one way to make the community aware of this organization.
Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey (PCA-NJ) promotes great childhoods, positive parenting and healthy child development. Founded in 1979, the group's efforts throughout the state are dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect in all forms for all New Jersey children.
The Woman's Club envisions a world where every child has a happy, healthy and safe childhood – free of abuse and neglect. Their prevention programs include public awareness campaigns, parenting education programs, workshops and professional training, home visitation services, initiatives that promote parental involvement in a child’s education, and projects that support highly vulnerable families. They help parents to nurture, develop and sustain healthy children.
The Woman's Club of West Milford is hoping that each time you pass town center, you will be more aware of the increasing concern for child abuse. The goal is to stop this growing problem, starting right here in our town.
