WEST MILFORD — Paradise Knoll PTA is proud to announce they will be offering the TREP$ program again this year.

TREP$, is an entrepreneurship education program for youth, which was created by Pamela DeWaal and Haley Romano, two certified teachers who reside in West Milford, New Jersey. Experiencing life as a small business owner is an empowering, self-esteem builder for children, of all abilities and talents. This program was piloted in Paradise Knoll School, and still thrives today. The Paradise Knoll PTA has won the New Jersey PTA’s Champion for Children Award for best new program.

The program began with showing the fifth graders a video of past TREP$ in action. Children were given the opportunity to enroll in a series of 6 after school workshops where they will receive instruction and will be guided through various creative exercises to understand the ready skills of entrepreneurship, as well as team dynamics. The sixth graders are returning this year, but not as workshop participants. TREP$ program is headed by PK teachers, Martha Cook and Joyce Troast.

During this 6 week period, the children research and develop the products or services they will sell or promote at the “TREP$ Marketplace.” This year’s marketplace will be held on Friday, Nov. 15 staring at 6:30at Paradise Knoll School located at 103 Paradise Road. The Marketplace is free and open to the public. The entire community is invited to come and see what happens when you give a child the creative outlet and responsibility that comes with starting a business, hope to see you there!
