Putting faith into action

| 23 May 2012 | 05:59

Last Sunday, May 20, the Journey Church of the Highlands held its 5th annual Faith in Action Day. Morning services were cancelled. Instead of gathering in church, members and volunteers served in the community by participating in pre-planned projects, including collecting food for the needy, planting flowers in Memorial Park and doing necessary chores for seniors. Shown here are volunteers and residents of Lincoln Hill Village, a senior citizen apartment complex. The project involved brunch and a photo frame crafts demo. Each of the residents received a packet containing materials and were shown how to decorate their own wooden photo frames. They were treated to a delicious brunch prepared by the volunteers. Volunteers shown sitting on the floor from left are NuoMin Wu, Celine Dillon, Vivienne Erk, Jane McPartlan, Wendy Draansfield and Afsha Nazneen. Standing in the back are Feng Wu, Sally Lasano and Mike Hensley. Volunteers not in the photo are Marta Lopez, Tanisha and Claudette Pusey.
