Holiday recyclables
The holidays are here again, it’s time to dig out all the décor to deck the halls and dress your tree. Almost always there are some décor casualties during the process and you’re left with some broken, old or unusable items that you’re not sure what to do with. The following list of holiday items can be dropped off at the recycling center or left for curbside pickup as noted, including wrapping and packaging materials;
Packing materials; Styrofoam peanuts can be brought to shipping stores ie; UPS for re-use, Styrofoam box liners with recycling logo can be put in with commingled, plastic packaging jackets can be put in with commingled
Plastic wrapping materials; cellophane and heavy plastic sheeting can be dropped off at your local food store and placed in plastic bag recycling bin
Boxes, wrapping paper, gift bags, holiday cards, place at curb for pick up or drop off at recycling center
Broken glass Christmas ornaments, put in with commingled
Non-working Christmas lights, drop off at recycling center
Tinsel-garland, put in with commingled
Broken artificial Christmas trees, drop off at recycling center
Plastic lawn ornaments and displays, put in with commingled or drop off at recycling center
Real Christmas trees, drop off at recycling center or call your local Boy Scouts for pickup
Old toys; plastic and metal, put in with commingled
Old clothes and linens; Goodwill, VA or textile collection boxes located at the recycling center
Old appliances and electronics, drop off at the recycling center, large metal appliances should be put out at curbside on metal collection day
Stop by or call the recycling center at 973-728 2724 if you have a holiday item that in not listed above, to find out if it’s recyclable. Remember to please recycle all your paper, cardboard, junk mail, metal, bottles and cans and plastics #1 thru #7, and all your appliances and electronics.

What's new:
West Milford will soon be getting approximately $61,000 in grant moneys from our 2011 recycling collection efforts. This money will help to enhance our recycling program, build a new (much needed) recycling shed, as well as purchase recycling bins for township properties.
