— The Relay for Life of the Highlands is holding its kick-off meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. at West Milford High School. All who want to help raise money for the American Cancer Society are encouraged to attend. Be a captain, start a team, have a ball at the event. The snow date for this meeting is Feb. 12.

For 28 years, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life has provided inspiration and hope for millions of cancer survivors and caregivers. West Milford has held the event for the past eight years and has contributed more than $835,000 to the Relay.

For those unable to make the kick-off meeting, regular Team Captain meetings will be held at West Milford High School at 7:30 p.m. on March 4 (snow date March 11), April 9 and May 1. Anyone with an interest is invited.

The Relay for Life event will be held at the West Milford High School track at McCormack Field beginning on Saturday, May 31, at 2 p.m., and running until Sunday, June 1 at 5:30 a.m.

"Relay For Life is a wonderful community event but it takes many hands and passionate volunteers to make this experience great," said Jennifer Romer, American Cancer Society staff partner. "We are currently looking for people who may be interested in fighting back against cancer. We hope you will join us to learn more about what it means to get involved!"

The co-chairs for the West Milford event are Jon Joy and Ronee Carlo. Contact them at RelayJonJoy@gmail.com and RoneeLuvsRelay@gmail.com.
