WEST MILFORD — There is a Republican primary Tuesday, June 5, to select the candidates who will face off with the Democrats in November for the township council. West Milford Republicans will also choose their county committee representatives.

The Passaic County Regular Republican Organization has nominated Vivienne Erk and Mike Hensley, two long-time West Milford residents and first-time candidates to seek the nomination for the party.

They are facing competition from the Golden Rule Republicans, JoAnn Blom and former Councilwoman Marilyn Lichtenberg, also long-time residents of the township.

The West Milford Messenger has profiles of each of the four council candidates beginning on page 2, as well as answers to two questions posed to them.

Councilmen Joseph Smolinski and Mike Ramaglia are not seeking reelection to the council.

In addition, Republicans will choose their full slate of county committee representatives. The Passaic County Regular Republican Organization has put up two candidates for each of the 13 districts; the Golden Rule Republicans have two candidates in all districts except districts 1, 7 and 12, where there is one. County Committee members choose the party's chairman and its candidates for municipal offices.

Polls are open at town hall from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The West Milford Township Hall is located at 1480 Union Valley Road.
