Ringwood Manor displays visions of Christmas’ past

WEST MILFORD - For the past several weeks, the West Milford’s Women’s Club has been very busy setting up the annual Victorian Christmas displays at Ringwood Manor.
The Victorian Christmas at Ringwood Manor offers visitors a way for the family to experience what Christmas was like in the early 1800’s at the historical manor, which dates back to 1807.
Each room of the historic mansion contains holiday displays along with some of the original rugs, china, art, and guns for visitors to see.
This is one of the major events of the year that the club runs to raise funds for the many organizations in West Milford that the nonprofit club supports, organizers said.
Some of the organizations supported by the group are the West Milford fire departments, EMS, the veteran groups of West Milford, Ringwood Manor, and the Highland Association.
While at the event, attendees will be given the opportunity to purchase handmade Christmas decorations made by the members of the Women’s Club, organizers said.
Tina Ree, president of the West Milford’s Women’s Club, was on hand this week to help set up the displays.
“I wish to thank all the members of the club, along with some of their friends, and Sue Shutte, the Ringwood Manor historian, for helping to make all this possible,” she said.
This event starts this weekend with tours running throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will continue on December 8-9 and 15-16 at the same times.
The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children ages 5-12.
No food or drink is allowed inside the Ringwood Manor museum, organizers said.
The Victorian Christmas Concert and Preview Event is currently sold out except for the date of Dec 7.
The doors open at 7 p.m. and the event concludes at 9 p.m.
