WARWICK — Fifth generation farmers Sally and Bob Scheuermann will hold their second annual largest tomato contest on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The world’s largest tomato on record is seven and three quarters pounds; last year, Vernon, N.J., resident Darryl Slate won the Scheuermanns’ inaugural contest with a green tomato weighing one pound eleven ounces.

The weigh-in takes place between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Winners will be announced for first place, second and third, with winners receiving a gift certificate to Scheuermann Farms & Ooops I Forgot Gift Shop. There will be refreshments, music and fun for the whole family.

All tomatoes must have been grown by the person presenting them for judges’ review. The winning tomato will be determined by weight only.

Winners must not be present to win, but will be notified by Sally and Bob Scheuermann.
