WEST MILFORD — The township is again looking for a director of its Department of Public Works.
Joseph Clementi, the most recent director of the department, resigned in December with a two-line letter to township Administrator Kenneth Gabbert.
"In accordance with the established policies and procedures, this is to provide you with two weeks notice. As a result, my last day will be Dec. 12, 2014," said his letter, dated Dec. 1.
Clementi started in April, following a wicked winter with no DPW head in place. Jerry Storms worked for the township for 42 years before retiring in July, 2013. He was director of the DPW for 27 of those years.
No reason was given for Clementi's departure in his letter or from the administrator's office. But the search is now on for a new DPW chief.
On the township's website, the following description is given for the position:
"West Milford Township seeks a Director of Public Works to manage a staff of 30 employees. Director is responsible for planning, coordinating and overall administration of streets, buildings, parks, grounds and fleet maintenance. The preferred candidate will have 5 years experience in DPW operations and 3 years experience in an overall supervisory or management position – CPWM (Certified Public Works Manager) a plus. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Send resume, cover letter and salary requirements to Kenneth Gabbert, Administrator, Township of West Milford, Administrator’s Office, 1480 Union Valley Road, West Milford, NJ 07480 or via email: TwpAdministrator@westmilford.org."
