"Shred it" event raises money for Marines Care

WEST MILFORD — On Saturday, June 30, 2012, The Chelsea at Bald Eagle hosted a “Shred It'event to raise money for Marines Care, an organization of Marines who regularly visit and support wounded warriors from all branches of the service at Walter Reed National Military Hospital in Bethesda, Md. and Military Advanced Training Center.This hospital specializes in rebuilding the bodies and souls of warriors with missing limbs.

Marines Care has been able to purchase prosthetic devices for those in need.They have also supported families of those hospitalized as well as provide basic necessities for those facing months of rehabilitation and hospitalization.Many residents of West Milford and Warwick, N.Y., came and brought their old financial documents to be professionally shredded.Individuals were charged $5for the first 10 pounds and $2 for each additional five pounds. All proceeds went to benefit Marines Care.

The response to the event was wonderful and raised about $500 for the charity. Most who attended requested The Chelsea to hold another “shred it"event again.
