Incumbent Board of Education members William Cytowicz and Steven Drew are among a total of six candidates seeking the three open seats in this year’s election, according to petitions filed with the Passaic County Clerk’s Office.

Candidates for the board had until 4 p.m. Monday to file petitions to be on November’s ballot for the non-partisan elections, county officials said.

Incumbent Debbie O’Brien did not file a petition to run for the three seats this year.

In an email Wednesday, O’Brien cited personal circumstances as her reason for not seeking a third term on the panel.

In addition to Cytowicz and Drew, challengers Michael Conklin, Cortney Stephenson, Robert Woodier, Jr., and Jaycen Stillman will campaign for the openings.

Cytowicz, who also won one of two Republican nominations for Passaic County Freeholder in June, withdrew from that race in a June 28 letter to county GOP officials, according to the county clerk’s office.

The candidates will be on the November general election ballot.
