Something to smile about

Mayor Bettina Bieri is all smiles as she accepts the ceremonial checks from Passaic County Freeholder and West Milford resident Terry Duffy, totaling $173,000. Some of the open space funds - $30,000 - will go toward rehabilitating the Wallisch estate. The rest is for lighting at Nosenzo Pond and an easement project on the Hewitt Butler Trail. Pictured from left are Dave Ofshinsky of the Friends of Wallisch, Duffy, Bieri, Kerry O’Brien, of the Friends of Wallisch, and Passaic County Open Space Coordinator Kathleen Caren. Bieri said the county has approved most, if not all, of the township's grant applications. "They've done well by us."
