SpaOlogy, located in the Bald Eagle Square Plaza on Cahill Cross Road, celebrated its grand opening on April 7.
”I don’t think there’s really anything like this in West Milford,” said owner Alessandra Hernandez.
Hernandez, born and raised in Italy, is a licensed massage therapist and skin care specialist who graduated from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in 2003.
She worked in New York City for several years before moving to West Milford in 2011, where she began building up her private clientele.
When she saw space available in the Bald Eagle Square Plaza, Hernandez reached out to fellow massage therapist Stacy Van Dyk, and skin care/cosmetology specialist Waira Chard, both West Milford residents as well.
“We just brought ourselves together, (us) three capricorns,” Hernandez said. “We are very enthusiastic and really driven.”
Seeing an absence of day spas in the area, the three decided to open up their own space to bring the full experience to West Milford.
That experience includes massages, skin care, waxing, spray tanning, lashes, reiki, and more.
”You can get a massage, you can get a facial, you can get a body treatment, exfoliation, waxing, make-up, lashes,” Hernandez said. “You pretty much have everything available here.”
SpaOlogy will also rent space out for special events, such as sweet 16 or bachelorette parties.
“We just want to provide a full service to the area and surrounding areas,” said Hernandez. “We’re always driving, we’re always studying, we’re always trying to achieve more so that we can do everything to make clients happy.”
According to Hernandez, what really sets SpaOlogy apart, though, is its relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
“We tried to build this place and make it like a home,” said Hernandez. “You can come here and this can be your happy place.”
The business provides services for both men and women, and sells select products as well, but the owners are waiting to get some feedback from customers to start carrying more.
“We want the clients to come here, be happy, and just forget about their problems,” said Hernandez. “Just detach from the rest of the world for like an hour or two.”
