WEST MILFORD — As the world gets set to mark Earth Day this Sunday, West Milford residents will be out in force doing their part to keep the township beautiful on Saturday. It's Beautification Day, traditionally a day when scout troops, sports teams, families, neighbors and individuals put on the gloves, grab some bags and clean up around town. West Milford's Recycling Coordinator David Stires instituted separate bags for recyclables and trash a couple of years ago and that's been nothing short of a wonderful thing. Now, instead of adding to our landfills, tons of what is picked up goes to recycling, which has the added benefit of bringing cash to West Milford. It's not too late. If you want to participate on Saturday, give Stires a call over on Lycosky Drive at 973-728-2724. He will supply the gloves, bags and a free t-shirt. Put trash in the black bags and recyclables in the blue ones. Folks will be out from 9 a.m. until noon. Then it's over to Bubbling Springs for a free picnic of hotdogs, soda and chips. Come out and help make West Milford sparkle.
