CLIFTON — Dover Business College is pleased to announce the recent graduation of students from the Surgical Technologist (ST) Program. Families and friends gathered to honor the students during a Pinning Ceremony that was held at the Dover Business College Clifton Campus.

The ST program at Dover Business College is one of only a handful in the State of New Jersey that has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) National Certification Exam, administered through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. As of January 2012, the CST credential is the only ST credential that is accredited by the National Commission for Certified Agencies.

“Employment prospects for graduates of this program are most promising,” said Joseph Charleman, CST, LPN, chair of Dover Business College Surgical Technologist and Surgical Processing Technician programs. “Our ST graduates have completed rigorous training and are prepared to meet the growing demand for Surgical Technologists in hospitals, physicians’ offices, outpatient care centers, and ambulatory surgical centers.”

As dedicated members of the operating room team, graduates of the ST program at Dover Business College may perform varied tasks such as preparing the operating room for surgery; handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon during an operation, and monitoring and continually assessing operating room conditions.

Dover Business College has locations in Clifton and Dover and is a nationally accredited private college with a 53-year history of preparing students for careers. Dover offers programs in the areas of healthcare, business, and information technology. In addition to classrooms, the facilities include computer labs, a nursing area, an operating room, and medical laboratories.
