The dogs were the stars of the day Sunday at the West Milford Animal Shelter's annual Walk-A-Dog-Athon at Wawayanda State Park.
The weather was predicted to be cloudy with rain late in the afternoon; there was a short burst of rain early in the afternoon but it soon stopped and it was bright and sunny. Whatever the weather, there were a lot of dogs and their owners who had a great time taking a walk in the park to support homeless shelter animals.
The minimum suggested registration fee was $10 but many people raised a lot more and the ones who raised the highest seven donations won some great prizes. The winners were:
Grand Prize: $400 JRC gift card– Ginny Tillman
First Prize: $300 ShopRite gift card from Inserra Supermarkets – Carol Louer
Second Prize: $275 Pet Portrait from Portrait Artistry by Linda Marie – Lynn Rhinesmith

Fourth Prize: $100 gift card from Target, Riverdale – Victoria Reinstra
