WEST MILFORD - The Annual Paradise Knoll Elementary School Spelling Bee took place on March 20, 2019.
Twenty super spellers from grades five and six were chosen to participate in the School Spelling Bee, based upon results of classroom mini-Bees held during previous weeks.
The Spelling Bee competitors completed nine full rounds of spelling challenges before coming down to the “Elimination Round”: the final round of the Bee that begins when only two spellers remain in the competition.
When one of the final two contestants misspells a word in the Elimination Round, the other contestant must correctly spell that same word, and then spell an additional “Championship Word” to win the competition.
This year, the Championship Word was “quiche”.
Sixth grader Lauren Jakobczuk won the title of PK Spelling Bee Champion for 2019.
Fifth grade student Brenna Traverso was the second top speller of the competition.
