Sustainable West Milford gets 'Dig In' grant

PATERSON — Sustainable West Milford has again been awarded a City Green "Dig In" Community Gardens and Neighborhood Farming Program grant. Accepting the award for Sustainable West Milford's Wild and Native Medicinal Plant Garden was John Harrison, Karen Longo and David Watson-Hallowell. Herbalist and Director of the garden, Robin Rose Bennett, was unable to attend the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders meeting where the award was presented.
Sustainable West Milford has received grants totaling $7,000 over the past three years through this program for the organic community garden and the native medicinal garden. The program is funded by the Passaic County Open Space Trust Fund.
The “Dig In!” Community Garden and Neighborhood Farming Program aims to support the creation of vibrant community gardens in urban, suburban and rural areas of Passaic County for the production of healthy food, neighborhood beautification and community enhancement.
