| 16 Aug 2012 | 02:57

This week we Take Five with Ben Eck, an incoming sophomore at West Milford High School who loves fencing, participating in the marching band and so much more. He's also one of our most observant Where In West Milford responders. Be sure you go to westmilfordmessenger.com for our bonus five with Ben.

1) How did you get involved with fencing?
The summer I was entering seventh grade I signed up for summer fencing Camp at the high school. I thought it would be a cool sport to learn.
2) What would most people be surprised to know about fencing?
People would be surprised at how hard fencing can be. It takes strength, patience, focus and A LOT of practice.
3) What does being a Highlander mean to you?
Being a Highlander to me is being a part of a much bigger picture. I am a Highlander fencer and a Highlander marching band member. The band is the most decorated sport for the school. I enjoy being a part of two teams that bring home medals and trophies for the school that all Highlanders can be proud of.
4) What do you do with your time when you are not fencing?
When I am not fencing, I am working very hard for the marching and symphonic bands. We play at all football games, competitions, concerts and parades. Eyes with pride!
5) Share something no one knows about you.
My favorite class at school is computer assisted drafting (CAD). I gave up lunch next year so I could take CAD2.

Ben sure shows his Highlander pride! We'll be watching for you in the band and during fencing season. And have fun in CAD2 this year.
Do you know someone who should be featured here in Take Five? We want to feature all the great kids of West Milford. Send us their name and email address. And we'll see you again next week for a new Take Five.
