This week we Take Five with Nicholas Quince-Gorman, a senior at West Milford High School who participated in the musical this spring. He really stepped out of his comfort zone to do it - and is so glad he did! Be sure to go to our website, westmilfordmessenger.com, to read out bonus five with Nicholas.

1. How did you get involved with drama club?
Joining the play was something I’ve been tempted to do since freshman year. The idea to join bounced around in the back of my head for a while, but I never took any action upon it until this year. Constantly being encouraged by my family and teachers, having an amazing girlfriend, and discovering myself as a person, I was motivated to make one of the best decisions in my life.
2. What would most people be surprised to know about acting?
Coming into theatre for my first year as a senior, my mind set was similar to those who are unaware or not interested in the school plays. The amount of time and work needed at rehearsals was very unexpected, and kind of scary. The theatre kids are the funniest and most supportive group of people I’ve ever been around. I have made way more friends than I would've imagined and I finally found my clique (better late than never). Lastly, the pure thrill and euphoria of being on stage was expected, but not comprehensible. It’s one of the best feelings in the world.
3. Who is your favorite teacher of all time? Why?
It is hard for me to choose who my favorite teacher of all time is. Heather Burns, my theatre teacher, inspired me to join the play. Laura DeSena, my creative writing teacher, has expanded my creativity and makes her class a pleasure to be in.
4. Share a favorite moment with your fellow actors.
My favorite moment in the play was also one of the saddest. The end of the last show when the curtains closed and we walked off the stage hearing the applause of the packed house.
5. Share something no one knows about you.
...I’m Batman
Well, we feel safer just knowing that, Nicholas! Great sense of humor. Let's hope your acting career continues in the coming years. It's never work if you love what you do.

Bonus Five
6. Who is your biggest inspiration?
I am easily inspired by everything which strongly urges me to output all of my expressions through writing, music, and recently theatre.
7. Name three things you would bring with you if you were on a deserted island?
If I was on a deserted island I would bring my leather jacket so I could strut the sand looking slick. I would also bring my TV so I could watch Suits. Have you ever seen Suits? It’s so good! Lastly I would bring my computer so I could make dope beats.
8. What does being a Highlander mean to you?
I honestly never had much school spirit until this year. West Milford pulled off an amazing show and I got to be a part of it. I’m proud to be a member of the Highlander family.
9. What do you do with your time, when you are not acting?
In my free time I hang out with my girlfriend, make music on various production programs, and practice karate at the Oak Ridge Martial Arts Academy. I got my Black Belt last April!
10. What is your favorite movie, book or character? Why?
My favorite movie is the one with that guy! I forget the name. So good though!
