Team takes silver in Tri-County Senior Olympics
WEST MILFORD. Ten competitors win medals in events.




The West Milford Senior Olympians placed second in the 36th annual Tri-County Senior Olympics, hosted by Pequannock on Thursday, Sept. 18.
Because the event was delayed a day because of the weather forecast, only West Milford and Randolph fielded full 24-person teams.
Randolph took first place with a score of 909, followed by West Milford with a score of 853. Wayne was third with a score of 742, followed by Sparta with a score of 590, Morris Township with a score of 566 and Pequannock with a score of 457.
There were competitions in corn hole, chicken toss, soccer kick, golf putting, ladder ball and basketball toss.
West Milford medalists:
• Diane Kasper, silver, and Patricia Daly, bronze, in women’s ladder ball.
• Pat Sarnella, gold, and George White, silver, in men’s soccer kick.
• Elaine Monks, bronze, in women’s basketball toss.
• Mike Fabrizzio, gold, and Ed Perera, bronze, in men’s corn hole.
• Marilyn Lichtenberg, bronze, in women’s corn hole.
• Bill Lungren, gold, in men’s golf putting.
• Sarnella, gold, and Ed Ackerman, bronze, in men’s chicken toss.
Perara also received the Spirit Award.
