Thousands gather for Thunder

Nine-year-old Sage dressed as Pocahontas for the evening. What a beautiful sky behind her as night fell on West Milford during Thunder in the Highlands.

Giana, 3, had a grat time getting her face painted at Thunder. There were activities for kids of all ages, as well as adults.

They gave it their best - and some were pretty good - at the retro Hula Hoops. What a fun way to get some exercise.

Seven-year-old Eddie did his best on the mechanical bull. This was one of the most fun attractions at Thunder. Kids lined up to take their turn.

And of course, the fireworks made the crowd oooh and aaah when darkness fell.

The crowd continued to grow throughout the evening.

WEST MILFORD — West Milford Township sure knows how to celebrate. The annual Thunder in the Highlands, which took place on Friday, June 29, drew thousands from throughout the township and beyond. Fun activities for the kids and grown ups, tasty treats, great music and of course the fireworks - which give Thunder their thunder - made for a wonderful, family-friendly night. Sponsored by the Police Athletic League again this year, the event got rave reviews from many who attended.
