WEST MILFORD ‑‑ The West Milford Animal Shelter Society (WMASS) is grateful for the outstanding support it receives from the community year-round. Your donations of money, cat and dog food, cleaning supplies, and other necessities allow the all-volunteer shelter to provide the best care to the homeless animals that come through its doors. Yet for all of your generous donations, we are always in need of one very important thing – your time.
The WMASS is actively seeking volunteers who can help with cleaning, feeding, and socializing cats on weekday mornings. Or, after completing our training, you might be interested in working with the dogs at the shelter. Maybe both!!
No experience? No problem! We’ll train you. We will also work with your schedule. No contribution of your time is too small; just an hour or two a week can make a huge difference to the shelter and the animals.
No one gets paid, but your hard work will be rewarded with the satisfaction of providing loving care to homeless animals and watching as they find their “fur”ever homes. Other benefits include:
• Making new friends (both two- and four-legged);
• Learning new skills and utilizing your talents;
• Destressing from daily life with unlimited cuddle time; and
• Taking cute pictures to post to social media and making your friends jealous.
If you’re an animal-lover with a few hours to spare on a weekday from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm, stop by, fill out an application, and become part of the WMASS team. We are proud to host a dynamic group of people from all different backgrounds that contribute to our daily operations.
The WMASS is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please stop by or call the shelter at 973-728-2859 for more information.
