West Milford. Recycling efforts continue

When people take a little time to recycle items no longer usable it benefits participants themselves and the Township of West Milford. Items that are recycled and do not end up in the garbage where it costs money to cart them away can save many thousands of dollars for taxpayers.

With this in mind, township officials were expected to award a contract for marketing of recyclables to Atlantic Coast Fibers LLC of Passaic this week. The contract will be from Jan.1, 2021, through June 30, 2021.

Atlantic Coast Fibers LLC, according to the company website, is a recycling leader with over 100 years of experience and dedication. They constantly evaluate the way things are being done and are looking for more efficient ways to promote recycling.

The company is now in its fourth generation of business professionals, according to information on their site. They strive to recycle everything possible and by incorporating new equipment technologies they are continuing down a road toward a zero landfill society. Four locations and over 200 employees serve the customer base.

Recycling one aluminum can save enough energy to run a television set for three hours, the company reported. Other information available from them said every ton recycled saves 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space and over the years the company recycling has saved over two million trees; recycling reduces greenhouse emissions by over 120,000 metric tons of carbon equivalent yearly.
