Westbrook Elementary School Principal Siobhan Tauchert is leaving the district.

Tauchert informed the parents of her school last Thursday via the Honeywell message system the district uses to get information quickly to parents. In the message, Tauchert said "It is with great regret that I am informing you I have accepted a new position in another district effective July 1, 2014. This decision was made after a great deal of thought and consideration but was reached for personal reasons."

Tauchert has been with the West Milford School District for one year, being named principal of Westbrook last June.

Tuesday night, Superintendent James McLaughlin said the district is gathering an interview committee and will begin looking for a new principal.

"With regret, we have received Ms. Tauchert's resignation as principal of Westbrook," said McLaughlin in his report to the board. I am appreciative of her leadership during the course of this year and anticipate a timely and positive selection of a new principal."

In her communication with parents, Tauchert thanked the Westbrook community.

"I continue to enjoy my time at Westbrook and appreciate all you have done to welcome me into your community. I wish all the bests to the students and their families at Westbrook School."

Tauchert's resignation is effective June 27.
