Rebecca Benowitz had a special birthday this year. No, it was not a milestone number, but this eight-year-old decided to make her birthday on Feb. 12 special for others, namely the animals at the West Milford Animal Shelter. Rebecca, a student at Paradise Knoll Elementary School, decided that instead of birthday presents her friends could buy supplies that would be donated to the shelter. It was a very selfless thing to do and Rebecca's generosity was greatly appreciated. The folks at the shelter were thrilled by the donation and made sure Rebecca knew it and felt special for doing what she did.
