WEST MILFORD — The West Milford Beautification and Recycling Task Force Committee has announced the formation of ‘WM-BARC” - the West Milford Beautification and Recycling Crew, in response to the many residents who have expressed their desire to keep our community clean and beautiful between the annual Beautification Days.
The goal of the WM-BARC is to clean up roadsides within West Milford that are in most need of attention throughout the year, through volunteer participation.
The Crew's first endeavor was cleaning up the stretch of Oak Ridge Road where the new entry sign was erected at the West Milford-Jefferson border. The crew weeded and mulched the area around the new sign as well as collected a truck load of trash and recyclables from the roadsides.
Committee member Nancy Conlan is the crew coordinator; all interested residents who would like to participate in the clean-up efforts are encouraged to contact her at rabbitridgewm@yahoo.com or at 973-697-2946 with your name, contact information and the days and times that you would be available. Or stop by the recycling office and fill out a form with this information. Volunteers can participate as much or as little as they wish. Any help is much appreciated.
All participants will receive gloves, bags and a reflective vest for use during the clean-ups. Bags will be picked up by the Recycling Department or the township's waste contractor.
Adopt-a-sign
The crew will also be cleaning up and preparing the locations where the new West Milford entry signs are going up, so the signs will be ready for sponsorship. The committee is currently seeking out business and resident sponsorship for these ‘adopt-a-sign’ locations.
