WEST MILFORD – The Youth Lacrosse program is now registering for new players.
The program, sponsored by West Milford Community Services & Recreation is open to boys and girls in grades 3 – 8, according to the organization.
“We had a very good season last year,” Coach Chris Watt said.
Watt said the program currently has about 70 kids participating and it hopes to see more sign up this year so that the number of teams can be increased.
According to the organization, Lacrosse is a culmination of skills from soccer, baseball, basketball and hockey.
Players participating in the program will learn basic skills through practices and participate in league play through the competitive North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League.
This is a travel program, but transportation to and from games is not provided.
Practices and games are held at night during the week and daytime on weekends, mid-March through mid-June.
Watt said the 3-4th grade team beat rivals Ringwood and Warwick last year.
Registration is needed by Feb. 1 to guarantee a spot, and costs $140 per player with a $10 discount for second and third siblings.
