Macopin spelling bee winners announced, one to go to state

WEST MILFORD — The Macopin School annual spelling bee was held on Tuesday, January 10. The seventh grade champion was Tara Gitter, with Katelynn Timony placing second for seventh grade, and Alison Wong placing third. The eighth grade winner was Kevin Muniz, with Chris Wagner placing second for eighth grade, and Faith Conklin placing third. When the seventh and eighth grade winners competed, Kevin Muniz emerged as the school champion. Kevin will go on to compete in the semi-final round of the North Jersey Spelling Bee at William Paterson University on Monday, March 6, at 6 p.m. If Kevin places in the top ten in the semi-final round, he will go on to compete in the finals on March 15, again at William Paterson University at 6 p.m.
