WEST MILFORD There are many different methods for choosing a name for a pet. Sometimes it’s a name of a location, or a color, or a type of behavior. Sometimes it is based upon appearance. Such was the case when the volunteers at the West Milford Animal Shelter named a lovely little stray cat that came into the shelter. She was named Willow because of her petite and willowy body and her big expressive eyes. She gave birth to a litter of kittens shortly after arriving at the shelter. A very protective and loving mother, she was very concerned about who might be touching her kittens. They’ve all been adopted and now Willow is alone and in need of a home of her own. She is sweet, gentle and wants to be held and loved. To help Willow and the other homeless animals, the shelter is hosting its annual Walk-A-Dog-Athon this Sunday at Wawayanda State Park from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. For information visit www.westmilfordanimalshelter.org or call 973-728-2859.
