WEST MILFORD-The Monthly Blood Drive for June, which marked the organization's fifth anniversary, is termed a tremendous success by spokesman Jim Gilligan. "We collected 89 whole blood donations and 9 of platelets, while deferring nine other donors, meaning we had 107 eligible donors for the day. This brings our total for the year to 439 and our cumulative number to 3,694!" Each donor received a custom designed fifth anniversary T-shirt, courtesy of Orange Rockland Electric and an ice cream sundae from the Dairy Queen on Marshall Hill Road in West Milford. "Thanks to all who gave," said Gilligan who added: "If you missed June, plan on donating at the Monthly Blood Drive on July 18. We are still making arrangements but we'll probably have tickets to a major family entertainment event that takes place in our area in August and September," he disclosed. "Blood donations usually decline in the summer months so we need as many people as possible to donate in July. Mark calendars now and be sure to bring a friend to donate, Gilligan urges. "Our all time record is 112 in one day, last July."
