West Milford Residents will now be able to return library items to a drive-up return in the parking lot when the library is closed. With the assistance of the Friends of the Library, a dual return was purchased for patron convenience and to protect the items. There are separate slots for books and media (DVD’s, Books on CD, etc.). Formerly, items were dropped into a return next to the front door and landed on the floor, breaking book spines and media cases. Even though the new return will allow items to drop into a cushioned, canvas-lined cart, materials could still be prone to some damage. For this reason, the return will not be accessible during library hours so patrons are required to bring items to the circulation desk. Since the parking lot is empty when the library is closed, drivers without a passenger can turn around and drive up to the return and avoid leaving their car.
