WEST MILFORD — Pack 289, which is sponsored by Frank M. Sell Memorial Post 289 of The American Legion in West Milford, is now organizing their Cub Scouting year. The pack meets at Marshall Hill School once a month and the dens will meet weekly or bi-weekly. They are planning for changes in leadership and program areas and there are many opportunities available. The Black Bear District membership committee is planning to have a recruiting night in early September. Cub Scouts is for boys in first grade through fifth grade. Cub scouting is a program based on the three aims of scouting, character, citizenship, and personal fitness, along with strong family participation. Pack 289 has a troop for the boys to join after their Webelos Scouting experience. Post 289 is an avid supporter of the scouting programs in West Milford and has been doing it for over 12 years. They provide a program for young men and women that develop their leadership skills, which will be of tremendous help, throughout their lifetime. Post 289 sponsors a cub pack, a boy scout troop and a high adventure crew, for young men and women who want to try things like repelling, climbing, mountain biking, camping, etc. If you are interested in joining Cub Pack 289 or have any questions about being a leader for your son’s pack call Harry Clark at 973-853-1674.
