WEST MILFORD Raven, a 5-year-old Doberman Pinscher, was adopted last year from the West Milford Animal Shelter, but was recently abandoned far from home at a shelter in Utica, N.Y. That shelter contacted the West Milford shelter to let them know that Raven was there and that they were very overcrowded. Shelter president Jean Bremy scrambled into action to find a volunteer to go to Utica to bring Raven back. Local resident and pilot Capt. Rich Kastrava called his co-worker Capt. Roy Matthews of Long Island to see if he would loan his private aircraft to rescue Raven. Within 24 hours the two men were on their way to Utica. After receiving a medical check-up and time to gain a little weight, Raven will be available (again) for adoption.
