Pothole Paradise

HEWITT - Spring is here, stirring the urge for many local residents to visit parks to play, enjoy the view, or just eat a leisurely lunch. While many of West Milford's parks have no problems with their approach roads, that can't be said for Browns Point Park at the southern end of Greenwood Lake. From the road, the approach belies the risks to car undercarriages by those venturing in. Following a rain, the potholes - several axle-deep - are filled with water, camouflaging the danger to family cars, low-slung sports vehicles, and all others, except perhaps for SUVs or lofty pickup trucks. In addition, the potholes are so numerous that a zig-zag course down the road is mandated in order to avoid the worst.
