WEST MILFORD On May 6 and 7 Relay For Life® will be taking place at the high school track. This year the theme in West Milford is “Rock Around The Clock For A Cure” and many of the team names reflect that theme. There are Luvin’ Spoonful, Bosom Buddies, The Incredibles, Shining Stars, Beach Bumz to name a few. So 22 teams have signed on and organizers hope for more. Relay For Life® is an overnight event designed to raise money for the American Cancer Society, help those who have been touched by cancer, empower individuals to fight back against this disease and celebrate survivorship. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team keeps at least one team member on the track at all times. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It is a night for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another. Survivors are invited to join the Survivor’s Lap which kicks off the relay at 3:00 p.m. Call Victoria Green of the American Cancer Society at 201-456-3418 ext. 209 or visit www.cancer.org for more information.
