Passaic County West Milford resident Joyce Restaino was recently honored by the Passaic County chapter of The New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners when they presented her with a Teal Heart. The Teal Heart is awarded to members who give time and share their expertise to support and promote the goals of the organization and the success of women business owners. “Most Teal Heart recipients assume responsibilities that are highly visible,” said Passaic County Chapter President Elsa Reinhardt. “But as a writer, only those who have called on Joyce to write letters, brochures, Web content you name it, know how willing she is to help especially when you need the material yesterday. She is truly our ghost writer,’ and we wanted the entire organization to know how much we appreciate the work she does.” A former editor and English teacher, Restaino turned her love of literature and writing into a business when she launched Joyce Restaino Writing and Editing Service 15 years ago on a part-time basis. “Poor writing creates a negative impression for both individuals and companies, especially in the age of electronic communication,” said Restaino, who is also a published writer. In addition to offering writing and editing services, Restaino teaches business writing and coaches individuals who would like to have their writing published. A founding member of the Passaic County chapter, Restaino admitted that starting her own business was a scary, lonely venture and that’s why she joined. “The organization provides encouragement, expertise, and plenty of opportunities to showcase your skills and abilities,” she said. “And when you are willing to share your knowledge to help others, they will turn to you when they need the products or services you offer.” For more information about the organization, call 877-850-2332.
