West Milford has two new startup businesses, both providing a service, but that's about the extent of their similarity. The Steam Team owned by Todd Bilney and Noel Maczko is a Hewitt-based carpet and upholstery cleaning company. After more than 15 years experience in the industry, Bilney decided to start his own company. He arranged to gradually transition from his previous employer, devoting more and more time to the Steam Team with the goal of being fully operational by this September. The Steam Team will be concentrating on the West Milford area residential market, but will also do commercial work. As the name implies, the cleaning method utilizes truck-mounted steam cleaning machinery. Other carpet cleaners' methods use dry chemicals and vacuuming, or shampoo. Bilney believes in the process and the results. "Our cleaning agents are all-natural and bio-degradable n non-toxic and safe for children and pets too. An average job of three to five rooms takes two of us about one to one-and-a-half hours to do a thorough and complete job, and it takes about four hours for the carpets to dry." Another newly opened business is that of Shannon Foster, Psychotherapist, located at Bald Eagle Square, 179 Cahill Cross Road n Suite 212. This is a new venture for Foster who is moving into private practice after eight years experience serving clients in a large health care system. "I have a vision that is more holistic and more humanistic as to how I can help people establish and reach goals. I enjoy being the messenger and I will use different therapies to fit the individual situations." Foster holds a Master of Social Work from New York University and is a NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She offers individual and family therapy for adolescents through adult. She emphasizes the serenity of the West Milford location plus her office design and décor as supportive of the goal to help people achieve their potential.
