A professional production of “Shakespeare: The Bard” was sponsored by the Westbrook PTA in an assembly on May 11. Featuring actors from the Traveling Lantern Theatre Company, this play re-lives a day in the life of William Shakespeare. In it, he tries to write, direct and cast some of his unfinished plays, such as “Hamlet,” “Julius Caesar” and “Romeo and Juliet.” The Traveling Lantern Theatre Company has been performing for children nationwide for the past 20 years. The company currently has a 20-show repertoire, most of them literature based, some biographical - each performed by only two actors taking on different roles within the play. In addition, they interact with the audience and use the students’ assistance while on stage.
