Newton - Winners of the Sussex County Junior Solar Sprints competition held May 17 at the Newton Hockey Rink have been announced by TransOptions Inc., sponsor of the event. Area students spent months applying lessons in math and science to design, build, and test their model solar cars for the competition, in hope of advancing to the inter-county finals on Tuesday, May 30. “We’re very pleased to bring this program to the students in Morris, Sussex, and Warren Counties through the generosity of our sponsors,” said John F. The inter-county champions will earn the right to compete in the Northeast Regional Junior Solar Sprints championship held by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association on Sunday, June 11, in Massachusetts.
