    Jefferson 19, Belvedere 14 Kevin Ialeggio, a junior catcher, went 3 for 5, hammering a homer and plating four runs while scoring three times as Jefferson out-slugged Belvidere 19-14 to open the 2006 baseball campaign in Warren County on Saturday. Ialeggio was chosen the SCIL/Richards and Summers Player of the Week. His teammate, Dan Lisa, was 3 for 5 with a singled, double and triple that knocked in three runs while Tim Rain went 2 for 4 with a single and double that drove in two runs. Dom Macaluso was credited with the win. Mount Olive 12, Newton 11 Newton dropped a 12-11 squeaker to Mount Olive. The Braves scored four times in the top of the first but the Marauders rallied to take an 11-5 lead into the top of the seventh. The Braves exploded for six runs, highlighted by Jared Zappa’s triple with the bases loaded that tied the game. Steve Zander collected four hits, including a two-bagger, as he knocked in two runs and scored twice for the Braves. Roxbury 8, PJ 3 Pope John fell to Roxbury 8-3, despite the Lions’ lineup recording 10 hits, includng round-trippers by Robbie Harcelrode and Mark Young. Morris Catholic 7, Vernon 4 Matt Sartell, who had two hits, blasted a grand slam homer in the fourth, but that was all the runs Vernon could muster in a dropping a 7-4 verdict to Morris Catholic in Denville.
