— The West Milford Health Department, in partnership with Chilton Hospital, continues the “Wawayanda Walking Club” this fall. Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage, crisp fall air and get some exercise along the way.
Did you know simply by walking regularly you can burn calories, strengthen muscles and bones, lower blood pressure, cut cholesterol levels, improve sleep, reduce stress and the risk of heart disease, diabetes and more. Don't let the little ones keep you from walking; strollers are welcome.
This 10-week walking club is free and open to families or individuals in West Milford. The Walking Club will take place on Friday mornings, from Sept. 14 through Nov. 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Wawayanda State Park, 885 Warwick Turnpike, Hewitt.
Participants will receive health education materials regarding nutrition, exercise and general healthy lifestyle tips. The goal of the walking club is to educate residents on the importance of exercise and proper nutrition and mostly making exercise a community event.
Registration is required. Call Marianne Stillman, West Milford health educator, at 201-248-4551 or email mstillman@chiltonhealth.org.
