WEST MILFORD — All area baseball players can try out for West Milford's College Bound Select 17/18/19U and Varsity 15/16/17U Summer Travel Baseball Teams on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m., in the West Milford High School gym.
The teams compete during the months of June and July in the American Amateur Baseball's Wooden Bat Connie Mack Leagues within North Jersey and Lower New York State. Out of state tournaments include Yankee Stadium from June 23 to 29, Cooperstown, N.Y.'s Doubleday Field from July 4 and 5, and the Metal Bat World Series from July 7 to July 12.
The squads will be holding a beefsteak dinner to help with their travel costs at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the West Milford Elks Club. The cost is $50 per person and includes antipasto as an appetizer, dinner, beer, wine, and soda. A local band, The Statement, lead by one of the players, Brenden Gerity, will offer the entertainment.
