WEST MILFORD — Environmentally minded folks are invited to an afternoon of fun with Skylands CLEAN and the Passaic River Coalition on Saturday July 26. From 2 p.m. to dusk, come to West Milford's Westbrook Park to enjoy a picnic and fishing derby (kids under 16 do not require a fishing license), interesting conversation, volleyball, basketball, Frisbee, horseshoes, and badminton. Kids and teens can compete to win prizes in the fishing derby; fishing rods, reels, and tackle are being supplied by NJDEP's Hooked on Fishing - Not on Drugs program.
A playground for the youngsters has swings, slides, and monkey bars. Everyone can use their knowledge while participating in an environmental treasure hunt. Bring your own food and organizers will supply a charcoal filled barbecue grill along with soft drinks, lemonade, and water.
Westbrook Park is on Westbrook Road, which intersects with Macopin, Ridge, and Otterhole to the west of the park, and with Morsetown and Snake Den Roads to the east of the park. Facing Westbrook Road is a sign saying “Coffee House.” Turn in at the sign and continue to the parking lot. The picnic area, pavilion, playground, and sports areas are to the right of the coffee house and above the pond.
